The Schrödinger’s cat thought experiment asks us to imagine a box. And in that box is 1 cat, 1 vial of poison, and 1 device for dispersing that poison based on the presence of randomly occurring radioactive particles. If said particle is detected, the poison is released; killing the cat. This thought experiment poses the idea that until the box is opened and a direct observation is made, the observer can declare that the cat is both dead and alive. This thought experiment was introduced to address the problems with the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics. It’s preposterous to think the cat is both dead and alive and we know otherwise! To add to the thought experiment, I propose a third cat! The Quantum Cat; a cat that exists amongst the uncertainty. Until the box is opened we can’t say the cat is dead or alive. Instead we might as well say it’s a quantum cat! When you purchase a Schrödinger’s cat blind box, you’ll get one of three plushies: A living galactic Schrödinger’s cat, a dead galactic Schrödinger’s cat, or the rare and uncertain QUANTUM CAT! Cats are 5.5" tall.
